Never to Old to Love Dinosaurs

After a few days in Moab and Arches National Park, we drove up to Vernal, Utah to visit Dinosaur National Monument. I'm amazed that a place like this still exists. The Park Service has built a building around what used to be an actual dig so that the public can walk right up to the fossilized dinosaur bones still in the side of the mountain. We were even allowed to touch some of them - it was amazing!

After the dinosaur bones, we took a drive around the area and were able to walk right up to Indian petroglyphs and pictographs. Petroglyphs are the carvings and pictographs are the paintings. Again, I am amazed that these exist in a place I can walk right up to without any protection. They were beautiful.

Here are my favorite photos from the two days in Vernal.

This is the fossil wall - it is 2 stories high and Henry is on the second story.
The kids were able to touch many of the fossils in the wall.
Henry might not like hugging people - but dinosaurs are ok!
